1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using NookScan Protocol™ (“NookScan,” “the Service”) — including the website at getnookscan.com and the NookScan Protocol mobile application — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). NookScan Protocol is operated by Notary Nook of Chicago, LLC (“Company,” “we,” “our”), a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Illinois. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use NookScan Protocol. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are using the Service on behalf of a business or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13 and is not suitable for use by minors. By using the Service, you represent that you are not a child under 13.

3. Service Description

NookScan Protocol is a compliance analysis platform that provides deterministic, AI-assisted document analysis for immigration documents (including EB-5 petitions and related USCIS filings), loan signing packages, notarized instruments, and general legal documents. The Service uses 14 proprietary compliance engines to evaluate document compliance, detect deficiencies, and generate correction recommendations.

Document analysis is performed using Google Gemini AI for AI-powered inspection and Google Cloud Vision for optical character recognition of scanned documents. These services process document content solely for the purpose of generating your compliance report. See our Privacy Policy for full disclosure of AI and third-party data practices.

The Service is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation of the Service at all times.

4. Accounts & Registration

To use NookScan Protocol, you must create an account using Google or Apple sign-in authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@notarynookhub.com if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.

5. Free Tier & Subscription Plans

Every registered account includes a free tier with 3 compliance scans per month at no charge and no credit card required. Free tier scans are limited to 25 pages per document. After free tier scans are used, continued access requires an active paid subscription.

  • Starter — $24/month: 20 scans per month, up to 75 pages per scan, compliance report with signature and jurisdiction analysis.
  • Professional — $39/month: 75 scans per month, up to 200 pages per scan, full compliance report with all 14 proprietary engines, correction paths with statute citations, PDF export, and full report history.
  • Enterprise — $299/month: Unlimited scans per month, up to 500 pages per scan, everything in Professional plus API access, white-label reports, custom rulesets, dedicated account support, and SLA guarantee.

Billing & Auto-Renewal: Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe and automatically renew at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You authorize us to charge your payment method on file at the start of each renewal period. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard. Cancellation must be completed before your next renewal date to avoid being charged for the following billing period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period and you retain access through that date.

Refund Policy: All subscription fees are non-refundable. No refunds or credits will be issued for partial months of service, unused scans, or mid-cycle cancellations. If you believe you have been billed in error, contact support@notarynookhub.com within 30 days of the charge.

6. AI & Technology Disclaimer

NookScan Protocol uses artificial intelligence — including Google Gemini AI and Google Cloud Vision — and deterministic rule-based analysis to evaluate documents. Results generated by NookScan do not constitute legal advice. Compliance reports are informational tools designed to assist — not replace — professional legal review.

NookScan's analysis is based on pattern recognition and rule-based logic at the time of scan. Laws, regulations, and jurisdictional requirements change frequently. The Company does not guarantee that analysis results reflect the most current legal standards in every jurisdiction.

Users should have all compliance results reviewed by a qualified attorney or compliance officer before acting on them. The Company is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation or counsel.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload documents containing malware, malicious code, or content that violates applicable law
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the logic of our analysis engines
  • Share account credentials with unauthorized third parties
  • Use automated tools to submit scan requests beyond your plan limits
  • Resell or redistribute NookScan reports without written authorization
  • Interfere with the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Misrepresent NookScan reports as certified legal opinions or official compliance certifications
  • Upload documents on behalf of another person without their authorization

8. Intellectual Property

NookScan Protocol™ and its 14 proprietary compliance engines are the exclusive intellectual property of Notary Nook of Chicago, LLC. The platform, its underlying methodology, analysis logic, rule sets, scoring systems, and output formats are protected by applicable intellectual property law. Patent pending.

You retain full ownership of all documents you upload. By uploading a document, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process it solely for the purpose of providing the compliance analysis service to you. This license terminates when the analysis is complete or when you delete the document or your account, whichever occurs first.

NookScan Protocol™, NookLayer™, and all other product names displayed in the Service are trademarks of Notary Nook of Chicago, LLC. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

9. Data & Privacy

Your use of NookScan is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Uploaded documents are processed using secure cloud infrastructure, including Google Gemini AI and Google Cloud Vision, and are not used to train AI models. Upon account termination or upon your request, your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

10. Third-Party Services

NookScan uses the following third-party services to operate the platform. Your use of the Service is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies:

  • Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, and cloud compute)
  • Google Gemini AI (AI-powered document analysis)
  • Google Cloud Vision (optical character recognition for scanned documents)
  • Stripe, Inc. (subscription billing and payment processing)
  • Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In (account authentication)

We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or practices of these third-party services. Any issue with a third-party service should be directed to that provider.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Notary Nook of Chicago, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to: errors or omissions in analysis results, decisions made without independent legal review, loss of data or revenue, unauthorized access to your account, or service interruptions.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Notary Nook of Chicago, LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of a third party; or (d) your reliance on analysis results without independent legal review.

13. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription from your account dashboard and contacting support@notarynookhub.com. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or otherwise misuse the Service, without prior notice. Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease and your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Fees paid prior to termination are non-refundable.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts and waive any objection to venue in those courts.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or business operations. Material changes will be communicated via email to the address on your account or via a prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before taking effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions of these Terms will continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, AI Disclosure, and any applicable subscription agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Notary Nook of Chicago, LLC with respect to the Service and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings relating to the same subject matter.
